When it opened in 1959, the Castaways bowling alley quickly became the most popular thing to do at the Las Vegas hotel. With a US record of more than 100 lanes, it was for many years the undisputed king of all American lanes and drew tens of thousands of tourists each year. 

In the 20th century, the bowling alley at Castaways was a big part of what made Las Vegas so popular. It held a lot of televised competitions that were interesting to people all over the world.

Sadly, the company had poor ownership, and in the early 2000s it was shut down. The stately complex was gone by 2006; today, all that remains is a mobile casino where it once stood.
